This is me on a trail walk last year in Huntsville, ON |
The
autumn months are by far my favourite and for several reasons. The colors of
fall with the beautiful colour changes of leaves and the crisp air, the
fashions, the smells and the food are just a part of why I love autumn. My
family enjoys going to a local Pumpkin Patch together to hunt for the best &
biggest pumpkin. Every year we try a new place but we always seem to end up at
Bennett’s Apple farm. I think it is mostly for the Apple Cider & donuts but
over the last 4 years it has become our tradition I love the smell of baking
pumpkin bread, apple pies, and Turkey on Thanksgiving. Yummy!!! I started
warming Baked Apple Pie fragrance in my Scentsy warmer so that it smells like
warm Apple Pie every day. We used to go crazy with decorating our front porch
with autumn decor but I think I will keep it simple this year with just our
pumpkin picks & of a couple potted mums. Keep it simple that seems to be my
motto lately. I have started my Christmas present projects this week too. I decided that I am making wool mittens for the men, slippers for the ladies and funky hats for the kids & babies on my list. I will post pictures soon.
It is hard to believe that Thanksgiving
is only a week away. My husband’s family makes a whole weekend out of it. We
all head up to Turkey Point for turkey dinner.
We rent a cottage & stay from
Friday to Monday. My hubby is the
2nd youngest
of 10 kids, so there are over 50 people, including kids, for dinner. We cook A LOT of food, 3 turkeys, 1 ham, 40
lbs of potatoes & more. We do our big Thanksgiving dinner on the Saturday,
buffet style because we cannot find a table to fit all of us at together. By the
time the weekend is over, all the food is gone, everyone is tired & full
from playing, eating all that turkey & pumpkin pie and all the excitement. It
is wonderful that we have kept this tradition.
